How Sad It Was to Be Victims of the CCPs Brainwashing

Editor's note: The Epoch Times publishes direct translations of statements made by Chinese people in renouncing the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its subordinate organizations. Statements such as these are submitted to a website affiliate tuidang.dajiyuan.com, of the Chinese version of The Epoch Times, Dajiyuan . The movement to renounce, withdraw from, or quit the CCP, called 'tuidang' in Chinese, began in late 2004, soon after The Epoch Times published the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, an editorial series that explores the true nature and history of the CCP. The statements offer a rare and candid glimpse of history in the making: the Chinese people turning their backs on the Communist Party, choosing conscience over pragmatism, and peacefully ushering in a future China free of Party rule.

At First, Not Seeing Clearly

My name is Wan Xian and I am 39 years old. Earlier, I had heard many people say that we had been brainwashed by CCP ever since childhood. In those days, I never agreed with them. Nor did I take it to heart. I thought myself to be very sober and rational. Only when I read The Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party by The Epoch Times did I come to realize that my knowledge about the Chinese Communist Party was very limited. In retrospect, the first two sentences that I learned in the school were, Long live Chairman Mao and Long live the Chinese Communist Party. How could you avoid being brainwashed in such a big dye-vat for that many years? How sad it was! When I was a kid, my grandmother told me a story about a very kind landlord in her village. More than a dozen members of his family were buried alive by the CCP and even babies a few months old were not spared. The reason was that one of his sons joined a home-going legion of the Kuomintang Army. I ! used to think that this was an isolated incident. The abnormal death toll ever since the CCP took over, revealed in the Nine Commentaries on CCP, really shocked me greatly!

I joined the Young Pioneers soon after I went to elementary school and joined the Chinese Communist Youth League later on. When I was in university, I submitted an application to join the CCP, but I was not admitted to the Party because I was told that I did not measure up to the expectations of the Party group (which meant I did not lick the group leaders boots). Now I think I was really lucky.

Quitting the CCP

I have a childhood friend whose grandfather was a landlord. He was very embarrassed and heart-broken when his grandfather was publicly denounced. Whenever I thought about him, his embarrassed and sad-looking face would appear in front of me. This would remind me that many such children were deprived of a happy childhood! Therefore I solemnly declare that I completely quit the CCP and wipe off any trace of the taint that comes from the CCPs dye-vat. In addition, I also declare my fathers withdrawal from the evil CCP (with his permission). My father, Wan Ju, was taken in by the CCPs propaganda when he was young. He was the head of a production team in a commune. He always led his team with commitment. The most impressive story he ever told me was how he jumped into freezing muddy water in winter when he was involved in building water conservation projects, and how he suffered rheumatism as a result. My application for joining the CCP during my university days was mostly inspired by his heroic deeds, and I thought that all Party members would be as unselfish. My father has realized how pitiful it is to be brainwashed by the CCP and he is now determined to break away from the CCP completely. !
